A MAN from Barry was given a suspended prison sentence for being in possession of a knife in a public place.

Gladstone Road has houses, shops, a family centre and a primary school on it.

It was along this road that Nathan Anning, 25, was caught with a knife on December 12, 2023.

Anning, of the town’s Harvey Street, pleaded guilty to the offence on February 7 and was sentenced at Cardiff Magistrates Court on March 4.

He was given a 21-week prison sentence suspended for 18 months.

It was noted in mitigation that the knife was voluntarily surrendered when Anning was confronted.

He was also made to do 120 hours of unpaid work.

Anning will also pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £154.
