A RESORT in the Vale has appointed a new manager.

The Vale Resort in Hensol, along with Hensol Castle, both in the Vale of Glamorgan, have appointed a new hotel manager to oversee daily operations and facilities.

Brian Gamble takes the baton from his predecessor after more than six years as operations director at The Coal Exchange hotel in Cardiff, where he oversaw a £40million renovation of the historic, derelict building to create a 196-bedroom hotel with restaurant, function and banqueting space.

With more than 35 years of experience in the hospitality sector, Brian brings with him a wealth of knowledge and will be responsible for all aspects of day-to-day management and customer delivery throughout the 4 star Vale Resort and Hensol Castle.

The South Wales resort boasts 143 bedrooms, two championship golf courses and Wales’s largest award-winning spa.

It’s also the official hotel and training venue for the Wales national rugby and football teams.

Meanwhile, Hensol Castle is a historical castle that dates back to the 17th Century and is enjoyed by thousands every year through weddings, dinners and business functions.

And below ground, in the cellars of the castle, is a one-of-a-kind craft gin distillery.

Speaking about his new position, Mr Gamble, said: “I am honoured to be joining two such prestigious venues - Vale Resort and Hensol Castle.

"Taking over the reins here gives me a fantastic opportunity to utilise my almost four decades’ worth of experience in the sector, and also the knowledge of the Welsh tourism industry that I built up in my previous role.

“Vale Resort is a spectacular hotel complex and Hensol Castle is a truly stunning venue, and it’s hard to believe you are only 15 minutes from Cardiff city centre when you are ambling around the stunning grounds.

"I am excited for this new chapter in my career and to see what the future holds for Vale Resort with me at the helm.”

Stephen Leeke, managing director of Vale Resort, said: “We feel incredibly fortunate to have someone with Brian’s calibre of experience and expertise onboard as our new manager for the two venues.

"This is an exciting time for both Vale Resort and Hensol Castle, and we really believe that Brian will enable us to continue going from strength to strength.”
