BARRY RNLI was tasked with a busy week of rescues following the warm weather spell across the Vale.
Crews from Barry RNLI were called to reports of a swimmer struggling in the tide off Nell’s Point on Thursday, September 7.
D-820 Francis Mary Corscaden lifeboat and her volunteer crew launched and identified the swimmer in difficulty.
The person who was not making progress against the tide was found and escorted safely and well to Jackson's Bay.
Later on Thursday evening crews were called to reports of an unconscious man on board a supply vessel off Hinkley Point.
The volunteer crew prepared the lifeboat to board the vessel and provided casualty care before extraction to the lifeboat.
A rescue helicopter rescued the man from the ship and he was flown to hospital in Bristol.
A spokesperson for the RNLI said: “Our volunteer crew undertake rigorous training to be able to respond to any situation.
“Each time the pager sounds, no matter what time of day or night, 365 days a year, we are always prepared.”
